Before moving to Chicago, I thought carefully about which neighbourhood I should live in. I wanted a place that was easy to navigate, similar to New York City.

I chose to reside in Chicago’s Gold Coast, and I adore it here! Given that lifestyles and preferences really vary, it might not be the ideal neighbourhood for everyone, but it works great for me.

This list of my favourite places in the Gold Coast neighbourhood is the best of the best, regardless of whether you are a local of Chicago or just passing through. Coffee & cafes:
A great place to get coffee and cookies is the 3 Arts Café at Restoration Hardware.
Kate’s favourite Cuban eatery is Cafecito.
Dollop is a neighbourhood gem despite being a little off the beaten path.
The iced vanilla latte at La Colombe is excellent, as is their Oatmilk Draft Black & Tan. A rosé is available at Petite Margaux during happy hour.
The Somerset at the Viceroy is the place to go if you want to enjoy some gorgeous decor and delectable food and drinks. Velvet tacos are the best, so trust me if you’re ever in the mood for some. Furthermore, if you get hungry after midnight, they are open until very early in the morning. Goddess & Grocer is a great option if you’re looking for some delicious salads, sandwiches, and quick snacks.
Additionally, don’t forget to stop by and get your picnic supplies if you’re going to Oak Street Beach. It’s definitely worthwhile to visit the recently renovated food hall known as Aster Hall. A wide variety of food from the Hog Salt restaurant group is available there, and the bar serves amazing drinks.
Drum Bar is a fantastic location in the area that not many people are aware of. This is one of my favourite places to take a date if you’re looking for somewhere to go. Although they have a fantastic indoor space, I prefer the rooftop outside.

The Viceroy’s Deveraux Rooptop is a great place to go for happy hour. On a summer weekend, it can get quite busy during the day, but it’s still a great place to get a drink with some friends.
